Hi ,
We’re doing a live webinar this Thursday evening at 7pm ET on YouTube, Facebook, and X on “Why Blood Pressure Drugs Manage a Number — But Don’t Fix the Problem.” Join us. This is important information for those wanting to normalize blood pressure by fixing the root cause of the problem.
Today I want to talk about hydration.
Because yes, hydration matters for blood pressure.
But there is a mistake a lot of people make:
They think the answer is simply to drink more and more plain water.
Not necessarily.
Your body does not just need water.
Your body needs the right fluid balance.
It needs water in the right amount.
It needs minerals.
It needs healthy kidneys and hormones.
It needs your cells to be able to hold and use fluid properly.
That is a very different conversation than: “Just drink more water.”
Let me explain.
When you are under-hydrated, blood volume can be affected.
Circulation can suffer.
Stress hormones may rise.
You may feel tired, lightheaded, headachy, or just off.
That is not good for the body.
But here is the other side of it.
If all you do is pound plain water all day long, especially while eating a poor diet and not replenishing minerals, you may not actually be helping your system the way you think.
Why?
Because fluid balance is not just about water.
It is also about electrolytes and minerals like sodium, potassium, and magnesium.
It is about the quality of your food.
It is about how much you sweat.
It is about alcohol.
It is about caffeine.
It is about medications in some cases.
It is about whether your body is actually nourished enough to regulate fluid correctly.
In other words, the goal is not “more water no matter what.”
The goal is smarter hydration.
And smarter hydration supports healthy blood pressure better than extremes do.
For example, if someone lives on soda, eats processed food, drinks alcohol, sweats a lot, and then tries to fix everything by guzzling plain water, that does not solve the underlying problem.
The body still may not have what it needs.
What I want you thinking about is this:
Hydrate in a way that supports the whole system.
That means:
Some of the best hydration support comes from a real-food lifestyle.
Think:
That is far different from living on processed food and then trying to rescue yourself with a giant plastic bottle of water.
Today’s action step is simple:
Drink water consistently through the day.
But also do these 3 things:
-
Eat at least one mineral-rich meal
-
Avoid sugary drinks and alcohol
-
Notice whether you feel better when you hydrate steadily instead of chugging water randomly
The lesson today is not: “Drink as much water as possible.”
The lesson is:
Support healthy hydration in a way your body can actually use.
That is how you help the system.
That is how you support circulation.
And that is one more natural way to help normalize blood pressure.
To your heart health,
